ProCodeCG Kids Regular Coding Class – 7 Dec 2019

Standard

Weekend is time to do what we like πŸ™‚ Our thing to do on Saturday is doing coding and research πŸ™‚

Capt. Faris is creating a chatting app that has already been used to help the learning process at his school πŸ™‚

IMG_7015 IMG_7026

the app accessed from an iOS device

IMG_7076

IMG_7078

it can also detect bad words πŸ˜€

IMG_7077

Syadad is doing a very interesting machine learning project today πŸ™‚

IMG_7012

it is to guess which door leads to a room without zombie πŸ™‚

IMG_7034 IMG_7035

the data of each room

IMG_7036

a very interesting project πŸ™‚ and Syadad did it very well πŸ™‚

IMG_7037

the next project is to predict whether someone will survive a Titanic crash or not, based on recorded data

IMG_7124

Al is working on the same project as Syadad’s

IMG_7013

after choosing from several alternatives, Al chose the Zombie Project πŸ™‚

IMG_7038 IMG_7088

it contains lots of levels

IMG_7091

the data set is empty because it’s in the code

IMG_7109

the code

IMG_7105

IMG_7106 IMG_7107

IMG_7108

lots of code but Al did it anyway πŸ™‚

IMG_7110

Fadhlan is doing a research about the motor driver for SNAPBOT 3

IMG_7014

we have 3 options πŸ˜€

IMG_7022 IMG_7032

fueling up first before continuing the work πŸ˜€

IMG_7051

Baran keeps making progress in the JavaScript learning

IMG_7016

IMG_7027

today Baran learns conditional statements

IMG_7030

IMG_7040 IMG_7060

Ara is ready to hack windows today πŸ™‚

IMG_7017 IMG_7039

it worked πŸ˜€

IMG_7048

but nobody else willing to let their laptop be a target πŸ˜€ next project is to hack wifi using dictionary and rainbow table attack with CowPatty πŸ™‚

IMG_7049

Kibie’s task today is to explore Blockly Games

IMG_7018 IMG_7025

and then start to learn some Python with CodeCombat πŸ™‚

IMG_7083 IMG_7092

Capt. Awa helped Kibie to go through some levels

IMG_7120 IMG_7125

Techa was given 7 minutes before the class started πŸ˜€

IMG_7019

and then he had to continue creating the game πŸ™‚

IMG_7045

Techa’s Shooting Game is now has all required features. Next week Techa will create BreakOut Game and then Space Invaders Game πŸ™‚

IMG_7061

Vey’s project today is measuring height with Arduino πŸ™‚

IMG_7020

IMG_7042 IMG_7072

yes, it worked! *Capt. Awa helped to download the libraries and display the result to the LCD

IMG_7098 IMG_7099

and then Vey continue working on his game πŸ™‚

IMG_7119

Sam had finished the Juz Amma and Object Recognition App so he’s ready for a new project. Sam did some research and decided to create a Panic Button App πŸ™‚

IMG_7021

Capt. Faris helped Sam to get the GPS location

IMG_7085

the code

IMG_7093

IMG_7095

the app πŸ™‚ we’re still figuring out how to get the address of the coordinates

IMG_7094

because we have to use Google Maps API

IMG_7104

and it is not easy and not free πŸ™‚

IMG_7117

Badi is going to create a simple electronics wiring today, and he looks super excited πŸ˜€

IMG_7029

before Badi learns to do soldering on his own, he’s got to do it right using the breadboard

IMG_7033

Badi’s first wiring πŸ™‚ and it works! the button will activate the LED *the full video is on the link below

IMG_7043

Farrell is figuring out how to implement his ideas into his game

IMG_7041

IMG_7075

Farrel wants to move to the next room whenever he gets to the end of the room, and he finally figured it out πŸ™‚

IMG_7097

Boy is going to make a game to be presented at school in a few weeks πŸ™‚

IMG_7044

He’s making a Space Invader Game

IMG_7059

IMG_7080 IMG_7084

It is 50% ready πŸ™‚ Boy still has to add more assets and codes into the game

IMG_7127 IMG_7128

IMG_7129

Mika’s project today is humidity and temperature sensor

IMG_7053

IMG_7052

the weird thing is the Arduino Board wouldn’t compile and if it did, it won’t recognize the usb port, so we still haven’t yet succeed to see the sensor readings. We have changed the Arduino and also the cables but still not working. Going to figure it out next week

IMG_7121

Cean is doing some web programming again today πŸ™‚

IMG_7074

with HTML and JavaScript

IMG_7086

IMG_7087

we’re coding to add some code to make those buttons work πŸ™‚

IMG_7096

IMG_7102

IMG_7116

Capt. Awa stopped by to help πŸ™‚

IMG_7079

he helped Vey to install the libraries and make the LCD program works

IMG_7081

Capt. Awa also helped Kibie with Python on CodeCombat and taught Techa how to build things with RedStone in Minecraft πŸ™‚

IMG_7118

Syathir is still working on his shooting game, and the next class he will be ready to create BreakOut Game πŸ™‚

IMG_7100 IMG_7101

Fab finally solved the problem in his game

IMG_7103

but when he added another sprite, the game start malfunctioning. We’re still figuring this out

IMG_7111

IMG_7114

Yogi wants to add lap counter into the Race Car Game, which is a BRILLIANT idea πŸ™‚

IMG_7113

so the idea is to create an object that will be hit each time the car run through the finish line, and display the counter

IMG_7115

Yogi is still working on it, we’ll see the progress in the next class πŸ™‚

ProCodeCG Kids Regular Coding Class – Arduino/ESPectro Programming – 4 Nov 2017

Standard

Hello Saturday πŸ™‚ Always looking forward to see kids coding in our class πŸ™‚

Morning prep πŸ™‚

IMG_1170

IMG_1171

Ozan continued working on adding buzzer to his ultrasonic counter

IMG_1174 IMG_1179

Ozan had to check simple buzzer code to be added to the new code

IMG_1181 2

IMG_1182 2

Took a lot of effort because the same problem occur: the ultrasonic counter doesn’t work with buzzer added

IMG_1191

Nafis was back πŸ˜€ He’s doing the same project as Ozan and Reza

IMG_1183

And Nafis agree to start it all over again and add the components one by one, using ESPectro πŸ™‚

IMG_1186

Reza helped to make Nafis’ work

IMG_1190

And after the ESPectro shut down for several times due to wrong polarity, it finally worked πŸ˜€ but not yet with buzzer and LED πŸ™‚

IMG_1197

The most mysterious thing is that Reza’s wouldn’t work

IMG_1180

It took Reza hours to debug

IMG_1184 2

He changes the components to find the problem

IMG_1218

Still didn’t work, so we decide to take Ozan’s to be tested on Reza’s code

IMG_1192

And yes it worked πŸ˜€ So we combined Reza’s code with Ozan’s board and it worked well πŸ˜€

IMG_1229

We’re still curious to find out why Reza’s didn’t work (but at least he has a code that worked well). Reza is a very persistence kid. Won’t stop until it’s done πŸ™‚ Now to buzzer will beep when the count reaches 20 πŸ™‚

IMG_1239

Next week we will add LED to it πŸ™‚

IMG_1240

ProCodeCG Kids Regular Coding Class – ESPectro Programming – 5 Aug 2017

Standard

Hello! This is our regular thing on Saturdays πŸ™‚

IMG_4985

Vian surprisingly told us he wants to learn Arduino/ESPectro Programming instead of GameMaker and Minecraft πŸ™‚

IMG_4974

He learned to make an LED blinking πŸ˜‰

IMG_4958

IMG_4959

and then 2 LEDs

IMG_4969

and then 3 LEDs

IMG_4980

and then because we’re out of breadboards then Vian learned how to make RGB LED works πŸ™‚

IMG_4981

Rezky got a new LCD I2C and ready to test it

IMG_4944

IMG_4951

Yea it worked πŸ™‚

IMG_4952

Rezky learned to create some simple custom char

IMG_4956

and also lots of sets of custom chars πŸ™‚

IMG_4966

So did Ruben, he had just got a new LCD I2C

IMG_4946

he did the wiring and prepare to test it πŸ™‚

IMG_4949 2

while we’re installing some libraries, he drew πŸ™‚ amazing πŸ™‚

IMG_4953

or put everything inside his toolbox on a breadboard πŸ˜€

IMG_4961

or lay down for a while πŸ˜€

IMG_4972

ok Uben, the library is ready, let’s compile πŸ˜‰ Yes it works! πŸ™‚

IMG_4965

Ruben learned how to display text on the LCD

IMG_4973

and also how to put a smile on it πŸ™‚

IMG_4987

then given the task to put a sad face πŸ˜‰

IMG_4988

Ozan was really busy making an ultrasonic sensor work πŸ˜‰

IMG_4948 2

IMG_4957

IMG_4977

and finally it worked πŸ™‚

IMG_4978 2

The LCD is showing the number it is counting *it was dimmed because we use 3,3V instead of 5V (the 5V is used to power the ultrasonic sensor)

IMG_4979

Yaaay, awesome work Ozaaaaan πŸ˜‰

IMG_4983 2

Nadine wanted to learn Arduino/ESPectro programming too πŸ™‚ Capt. Faris helped her to get started πŸ™‚

IMG_4950 2

Nadine is very interested to learn about components and devboard πŸ™‚

IMG_4960

IMG_4962 2

She learned how to make a LED blinking (just like Vian)

IMG_4975 IMG_4976

Learned some debugging with Capt. Faris

IMG_4982

and then learned to blink more LEDs πŸ˜‰

IMG_4984

and also RGB LED πŸ™‚

IMG_4990

Proud! Good job Nadine! *she can’t wait to have her own ProCodeCG Kits next week πŸ˜‰

IMG_4991

Capt. Cinta examining the ProCodeCG Big Toolbox to get some idea what to create πŸ™‚

IMG_4942 2

It’s so much fun today like always πŸ˜‰

Hello! Glad to be back πŸ™‚ Yesterday we learned to create traffic light with pedestrian crossing with LED, button and Arduino πŸ˜‰

Kids who arrived early πŸ™‚

More kids showed up, including kids that are supposed to join the next class πŸ˜€ They just couldn’t wait so they came earlier πŸ™‚

Setting up the gears
IMG_6060

For us, this is how we relax on Saturdays πŸ™‚

IMG_6061

By creating things and solving problems
IMG_6062

And by making friends too πŸ™‚

IMG_6063

We often need more than one screen because we do different things in class. Rezandra had to use two laptop to see the handout because the rest of the class still need the big screen to show the schematic πŸ™‚
IMG_6064

The schematic required lots of wires and LED. Plus patience to pay attention to details πŸ˜€

IMG_6067

Look at those faces πŸ™‚

πŸ™‚

IMG_6069

Some didn’t want to be on camera πŸ˜€

πŸ˜€

IMG_6071

Each kids has different pace and passion
IMG_6072

In ProCodeCG Classes we always find ways to accommodate it

IMG_6073

We also apply peer-learning. Kids who know better than the others should share things they know or teach their friends πŸ™‚
IMG_6076

Some kids who don’t really like to teach can be told to do something and let friends watching. They are probably to shy to talk but they got awesome things to share!
IMG_6081

The class and loads of bright minds πŸ™‚

IMG_6084

This is what Clarence was working on (several things) πŸ˜€ He controlled the color of the RGB LED from serial monitor input.

IMG_6080

This is Rezandra’s. Still didn’t work because the button weren’t supposed to be there πŸ™‚

IMG_6074

Rezvan’s alternately blinking LEDs worked πŸ™‚ Under the assistance of Capt. Malik πŸ™‚
IMG_6091

This is how peer learning work πŸ™‚

IMG_6087

These kids are brothers. Both are very good on coding and sports πŸ™‚
IMG_6093

Who said programmers can’t be happy? Or even be athletes? πŸ™‚
IMG_6082

We’ll do more things next week! We’ll be reporting again soon πŸ™‚

ProCodeCG Kids Regular Coding Class – Arduino & ESPectro Programming – 22 Oct 2016

Standard

Hello! Today we will explore RGB LED by entering string to serial monitor to set the color of the led πŸ™‚

IMG_4880

Before the class started, Awa showed his now-working-LCD πŸ˜€ hello! πŸ˜‰

IMG_4881

Very few kids in the morning but more will show up πŸ™‚
IMG_4882

The schematic and the code

IMG_4884

Clarence helped his sister Pru to set up her work

The happiest always: Awa πŸ™‚

IMG_4888

The messy desk and all stuff LOL
IMG_4889

Kids are kids. They play everywhere πŸ˜€

IMG_4891

We often have to split the screen that shows the upper part of the code on one half-side of the screen and the other to show the lower part of the code because the kids have different typing speed πŸ™‚
IMG_4892

Sometimes the schematic looks ok but doesn’t work. Today we found out that there were LOTS of dead RGB LED.

IMG_4894

Malik demonstrates potentiometer to control a microservo πŸ™‚ Nice!
IMG_4895

The possibility is endless! πŸ™‚ These things really ignite kids creativity πŸ™‚

IMG_4896

IMG_4897

Ozan had to type the original RGB LED code and make sure it worked before he couldΒ continue the string to serial monitor RGB LED.

IMG_4898

Rezandra is always so dedicated and serious πŸ™‚
IMG_4899

Darrell forgot to bring his kit but luckily Awa has 2 arduino board plus cables too so Awa lend it to Darrell πŸ™‚ We had spare breadboards, wires and resistors and RGB LED so all was good πŸ™‚

IMG_4900

Clarence was figuring out how to connect sensor to LCD module with so limited port πŸ˜€
IMG_4901

Areli had to type in the original RGB LED code too before moving on the next one πŸ™‚

IMG_4902

Malik gave ESPectro Core and Base a try πŸ™‚
IMG_4903

And this month ProCodeCG is 2 years old! One of the parents brought us a birthday cake! Yaay thanks!!! πŸ™‚

IMG_4904
IMG_4906

Come on kids lets sing and take a picture and then eat the cake! And the kids just sit still busy with their computers and breadboards LOL
IMG_4911

Happy Birthday ProCodeCG! May you will always be able to contribute good things to the community, to the people and to the nation πŸ™‚

IMG_4912

Let’s grow together and make awesome things, kids!!!
IMG_4917

ProCodeCG is so proud to be able to educate these amazing kids! And we would like to say thanks to parents for supporting us πŸ™‚
IMG_4920

See you on our next birthday and see what happens! πŸ˜‰
