ProCodeCG Kids Programming Class 5 Dec 2015 – More GUI Design with Python

Hello! Today we are back to coding! πŸ™‚ We port GUI code in Java to Python πŸ™‚

Cinta is working on her code, creating a GUI to select options with radio buttons.

Faris is working on his code too, he tried to do it in F# language but later he agreed to do it with Python πŸ˜€

Azriel already has a program similar to what we are creating. He is modifying it.

Our class is always so fun, we do coding while playing too πŸ˜€ these boys are playing with a cat πŸ™‚

They wonder who is the owner of it, and thinking of taking it home with them πŸ˜€

Have you ever do coding like this? πŸ˜€

Azriel is explaining about his code. He is about to modify the quiz like code into something simpler.

In this class, every kid is given opportunity to introduce new things. Gaga is explaining about new breakthrough in Minecraft: Bringing Verizon to Minecraft!

Have you ever imagined to do voice call INSIDE Minecraft to the OUTSIDE world?!?!?!

Or, sending text/MMS and browsing in Minecraft? This is totally crazy! We are so going to talk about this in the next classes.

Anyway, these are what we have done today:

This is the GUI code in Java

Ecoethno organizesΒ outbound adventure for kids. It offers different experience for kids by bringing them to places they have never been before while also educate them about things they won’t get at school and also at home πŸ™‚

Dr. Ihsan and his wife, Ira Shintia, started Ecoethno since 1996. They are very experienced in extreme outbounds stuff like wallclimbing, rafting or kayaking.

Their passion about kids, education and doing outdoor activities bring Ecoethno to the next level: Ecocraft. Ecocraft has a mission to educate the craftsmen to improve their skill and find their markets.

The audience was just a few but didn’t mean this event failed to accomplished its goals πŸ™‚

ProCodeCG codeMeetUp() 18 Aug 2015 – Fonts 001

Today we learn about typeface from Prof. Budi Rahardjo! πŸ™‚

FullSizeRender 23

“Fonts” is not the right word, it is typeface.

FullSizeRender 2

Historically associated with printing press by Johann Gutenberg (1450)

FullSizeRender 4

Fonts, or a specific typeface subconsciously conveys message.

FullSizeRender 28

It is like the dress we wear. And the mood we feel.

FullSizeRender 7

Choosing fonts should be also based on clarity.

FullSizeRender 9

The difference between Serif and Sans Serif

FullSizeRender 25

And the font used for meme: Impact πŸ˜€FullSizeRender 12

Some stories about Comic Sans πŸ˜€ πŸ˜‰

FullSizeRender 3

And some demo on how to installΒ and use different fonts in web browser:

FullSizeRender 24

Because different fonts will set different mood

FullSizeRender 22

And this is some latex compiling…

FullSizeRender 18

To show some proper fonts for a currently-working-on publication πŸ˜€

FullSizeRender 17

The audience are mostly designers. Or, those who are aware and appreciate designs.

FullSizeRender 27

They share some point of views of designers

FullSizeRender 10

And some of astronomers perspective too! πŸ˜€

FullSizeRender 26

And this is us! This event will always be held, even when there is only a few people!

FullSizeRender 8

See you next week! πŸ™‚
