ProCodeCG Kids Regular Coding Class 5 March 2016 -Improving Python Quiz Codes, Problem Solving, Functions and Loops

Standard

We continued working on our Python codes, adding button, scoring system and conditional to decide whether someone pass or fail the test 🙂

IMG_6631

There was still a few kids in the morning because some arrived later.
IMG_6630

Some of them working on lines they missed and add more improvements.

IMG_6629

Faris came up with the idea to create essay quiz, and he started downloading different version of Python with Natural Language Processing library 😀

IMG_6636

Azriel, like always, prefer to sit on a real chair with a real table 😉

IMG_6627

This is Awa. Working on coding on Code Combat on the left computer and Hour of Code on the right computer 😀

IMG_6632

Malik was busy improving his code and debugging some errors.

IMG_6637

Aliyah was designing a quiz on English (grammars, sentences etc.). She even used her English Lessons Book for reference 😉

IMG_6628

We had a newcomer today, this is Prudence, little sister of Clarence, working on algorithms and problem solving using functions with LightBots 😉

IMG_6638

And this is Clarence, the brother, working on the same thing 😉 These two kids are very fast!

IMG_6639

As can be seen here,  everybody’s got something different to work on! 😉

IMG_6633

Like this captain, busy writing her short novel (while reading a novel) 😀

IMG_6642

They just wouldn’t stop until they solve the puzzles. Kids never give up! 🙂 ❤

IMG_6634

Like this youngest one 🙂 His mother had to wait for a long time until he decided he want to go home 😀

IMG_6635

Yes, we had that motorcycle in the class, as a commemoration of one of BCCF Founder that has just passed away, Kang Tegep 😥

IMG_6626

This is Reza finishing his own code too 🙂 This guy is very persistence 🙂

IMG_6641

We also had some visitors from UK 🙂

IMG_6643

Here’s the code, it is now 120 lines 🙂

ProCodeCG Kids Regular Coding Class 20 Feb 2016 – Multiple Choice Quiz in Python

Standard

Hello, we’re going a bit advanced today: we create a code to read questions from file and create a GUI for displaying all the questions and answers as multiple choice quiz, also with slider window on the side 😉

IMG_5744

It is quite a long code, reaching more than 100 lines 😀 But the kids just type it!

IMG_5745

This code runs on Python 2.7 because 3.5 won’t recognize tkMessageBox 😀

IMG_5746

Many people happen to see us doing this ask us: “Are you sure this kids understand coding? In Python?!?”. Well, this kids don’t just understand, they can modify it and also make their own 🙂

IMG_5747IMG_5748IMG_5749

We got a newcomer today, a little guy named Awa, a 2nd grade 🙂

IMG_5750IMG_5751IMG_5752IMG_5753

Awa was given a task to solve some simple logic, algorithm and problem solving exercise  🙂 The dad jumped in to help! 😉

IMG_5754

We have lots of things to do next week, but the main problem is that not all laptops have the specs for high consuming applications, and our internet connection is not very reliable lately so we will figure out something that will work for next week! 😉

ProCodeCG Kids Programming Class 25 July 2015 – More on Logics and Problem Solving

Standard

Hello! ProCodeCG Kids Programming Regular Class has started!

Today we have 9 kids joining in, two of them are newcomers. about 5 – 6 other kids are still out of the town so hopefully next week we will have more kids! The more the merrier! 😉

FullSizeRender 2

Like in every ProCodeCG’s kids programming class, the method is peer-learning. We have several kids as captains with the responsible to prepare things and be teaching assistants. But all the kids are expected to be able to help other kids too 🙂

This is the process of class preparation. Starting up computers. preparing extension cables. Turning on the projector. Making sure there is available internet connection.

FullSizeRender 15

Today we continue learning about logics, algorithm and functions with Light Bots.

FullSizeRender 4

This is how it works: one captain giving demos on using the projector. Others are moving around giving help and make sure every kid reach the level expected in the class.

FullSizeRender 6

Kids perform better when they discuss things with each other 🙂

FullSizeRender 11

Like these ones too 🙂

FullSizeRender 12

Learning like this is really fun! Sometimes we challenge each other who can solve a problem faster than the other. The loser should do some push ups LOL

FullSizeRender 18

Parents always have difficulties in picking up kids from this class. 🙂 🙂 🙂 The kids just won’t stop 🙂

FullSizeRender 7

Next week we will be learning Python 😉
