ProCodeCG Coding Mum Batch 3 – Day #15 – 17 Feb 2017

OK finally the last day 🙂

We should have had 4 judges/reviewers for today, but one of them had to cancel due to a very urgent thing.

She presented an awesome, detail and complete science education website design

With loads of educational contents

It contains interesting topics presented in interesting ways

With lots of pictures to make sure it gives detail information for each experiments/topics

The next one was Bu Ismi Amaliah

The website is designed for a real client 🙂

So this is a website for a real company 🙂

The design is sleek and elegant. And connected to the database too! 🙂

And then Bu Riska Syarif presenting a furniture website

This is also for a real business. Her family has running this business for several years

Good pictures, good design, and a very attractive layout 🙂

Clean and simple

Less is more. The simple design makes people focusing on the products. Well done 🙂

And then a ticket booking website design by Bu Maria Soedirgo 🙂

The design involves complex coding in PHP

It has complex CSS formatting too

Plus lots of form verifications 🙂 This is going to be a competitor of Traveloka and Tiket.com 🙂

Another interesting product website for real customer: Rubiya by Bu Novi Mustiantari

The design has lots of great pictures with great layout

Very entertaining to the eyes 🙂

It is totally well designed! The customer will be so happy to see this! 🙂

The next ones are not Mums 🙂 They are still very young 🙂 This one looking scruffy and lacking of sleep is Nadia Nathania 🙂 A real coder looks! 🙂

And that hard work pays off! Look at the result!!!

She created a website for her community named “Bandung Lautan Damai”

Since it consists of different people with different backgrounds and emphasizing on tolerating differences, the design is so colorful and contrast!

The colors shows diversity in harmony. A mindblasting design!

It is simple, and the typography is brilliant!!!

This is a masterpiece 🙂

The last but not least: A news website design by Fairuz Rana Ulfah 🙂

It has a tight and complex design as a container to its various news and links 🙂 It looks so neat but requires hard work! 🙂

Reviewers gave brief intro about their company to inspire the Coding Mum Alumni and to guide them with some tips about getting a job/project.

ProCodeCG codeMeetUp() #81 – OwnGames – “How a game developer become online round tofu seller without selling tofu”

Yesterday we had CEO and Founder of OwnGames shared about their awesome journey!!! We had contacted the CEO two months before but he had really tight schedule (he actually is now) so we were very lucky to finally can have him on our codeMeetUp()! He flew from Surabaya and drove straight to Digilife Dago and share huge inspirations with ProCodeCG 🙂

Eldwin Viriya. This smart, hardworker, successful, young man was graduated from Informatics UNPAR. The most impressive thing about him is his endless smile, peaceful tone and huge humbleness rarely find in most people!

Eldwin and his brother Jevfin started OwnGames on 2011. Today, people know Tahu Bulat Games more than they know about OwnGames 🙂 Yes, because Tahu Bulat beat Clash of Clans position on Playstore 😉

In the beginning of the journey, OwnGames created games for Nokia

The game won lots of competition. Eldwin who was applying to take a master degree had to cancel because he had to run the busy and successful OwnGames.

And then Microsoft bought Nokia so OwnGames started to create games for Windows Phone too.

And it won again.

OwnGames created more games on Windows Phone, Android and iOS

And won again 🙂

Winning lots of competition brought OwnGames all over the world to meet more people and partners

And OwnGames kept creating and winning 🙂

But creating games needs research

Because even partnering with Google and being featured on Google Play only boost the number of installation for a very short time, and then people stop using the game and uninstall the game

So OwnGames did some research to find out that 74% of internet user via mobile using Android

But the yellow line, that shows the growing number of user, belong to “unknown”. Not one of the most popular brand 🙂

It was revealed that there are some non-famous brand in the market that have been sold more than those popular brands 🙂

This kind of smartphone is very cheap. Much cheaper than Samsung and other popular brands.

The cheap smartphones has very limited storage and memory. It can only store limited number of apps.

So OwnGames concluded that they had to create games that only require small space. Because to be able to draw people to download and try a game is that the size should be small so it will fit in most of smartphones.

OwnGames created Own Super Squad, a high quality game (that requires lots of resource to create) that has big size and Own Pet Dragon, with less quality but has small size, and compare it. Own Super Squad got better rating but less download compared to Own Pet Dragon that has worse rating but has been download more than 100 thousand times due to its small size.

Not only quota that is limited. Memory too.

Revenue of Freemium Game depends on how long the game is on the device (not uninstalled) and being played.

Tahu Bulat is successful because of the small size and lots of features to keep people coming back. The left one is the earlier versions with less features. After OwnGames gathered feedback from users, it gradually improved the game to be the picture on the right. More features, more gimmick, more things that keep people attached to the game.
