ProCodeCG Kids Regular Coding Class – 17 Mar 2018

Hello Saturday 🙂 Our coding squad time to have fun 😉

Firaas came with lots of progress 🙂 He missed two classes but he did his homework 😉

Firaas had made lots of improvement on his BreakOut Game 🙂

Notice how creative he is on every levels 🙂

Firaas likes to help other kids too 🙂 Echa had problems with Minecraft and Firaas offered some help 🙂

We got Sulaiman back too 🙂 Yaay 🙂

Sul had to catch up with Minecraft Modding 🙂

Sul learned to create more complex structures, started with a simple block stacking (that red line behind the triangle stairs) to creating triangles

and then we added alignment and colors 🙂 This is to make sure Sul understands the concept of looping 🙂

While Cinta was looking for another project while doing the last one 🙂

and Vian were busy setting up servers to enable them to collaborate their work together

Lots of things to catch up, lucky Capt. Faris is very good in giving a jump start 😉

one of work we had to do is labelling image for training. We have 100+ pics of Capt. Awa to be labelled one by one before we put it into the data set for training 😀

Note: Capt. Awa didn’t come to the class because he went for a study visit in Malaysia 🙂 He gave a presentation about the vending machine from last week 😉

So glad to have another captain joining in our research squad so we can do more things at the same time!

 

ProCodeCG Kids Regular Coding Class – 24 Feb 2018

It was a wet and cloudy morning but kids kept coming to the class, thanks! 🙂

We had a visitor today: Ibu Inge Halim – General Manager, Banking and Financial Markets, IBM Indonesia 🙂 (on the left, in khaki blazer)

Capt. BR brought her to see how kids learn and do coding 🙂

She was amazed to see the demo of Koosha’s elevator simulation 🙂

Bu Inge took a look on what each kid was doing in the class, including Cinta’s 🙂

So here’s the detail of what the kids were working on today 🙂

Ozan was going to control LED brightness via cloud

First he had to try to control the brightness of the LED using potentiometer

But there was some problems because the potentiometer didn’t seem to work to adjust the LED brightness

We had replaced the potentiometer and it still didn’t work. Will sort this out next week and as the problem is solved we’re going to control it via MQTT Dash app from Ozan’s android phone 🙂

Our newcomer: Fathan 🙂 *he was waiting for internet connection before he can start the lesson 😀

Fathan finished learning Python with CodeCombat today

And then Capt. Azriel helped him getting started with GameMaker

Nafis (in the corner) checked his MQTT Dash App to be tested today. He forgot to bring his laptop charger so we have to use another laptop to test it 🙂

Nafis task was to turn on/off a LED via cloud using his android phone

and after several attempts, it worked 🙂 With the help of Ka Ozan *because he had gone through the same thing a couple weeks ago 🙂 Thanks Ka Ozan 🙂

Cinta was making her idea into reality: creating a random topic generator 🙂 She is going to create it in Python and then with Thunkable

We also had students from Telkom University School of Economy and Business, interviewing the whole class about ProCodeCG 🙂

And Cinta showed them some of her most awesome works 😉

Capt. Syahna arrived and Cinta happily discuss her ideas to her because it was their ideas together to create this random topic generator 🙂

Capt. Faris, like usual, working on the research: data crawling and tensorflow 🙂

He said we need to improve the learning process because the result for certain images is like this

Koosha worked on loads of thing 😀

He determined to make his elevator simulator works 🙂

Koosha rewrote the code

and checked again the circuits

And it worked 🙂 Yaaay well done!

Then we added LCD to display the info about the elevator

There were still some glitches but we will work on it next week 😉 So far it’s been a huge progress today 😉

Azriel was given a new challenge: to create a running text in Minecraft

but it was too hard so we changed it to creating elevator 🙂

like always, Azriel found each and every way to do it 🙂

ProCodeCG Kids Regular Coding Class – 24 Feb 2018

We’re back! 🙂

 

Kinan was back and ready to continue the work 🙂

Kinan created nice looking RaceCar game 🙂 We had a problem with drawing so we find some pics from the internet 😀

with coins too 🙂 (Silmi helped us to create this name)

Koosha was also back after a looong time!

He brought lots of stuff 🙂

And he revisited the last projects 🙂 This one is an NFC reader circuit. He will display the reading to the LCD

The codes

We had successfully displayed the data to LCD

but not yet succeeded simulating e-money when some amount of money deducted from the card 🙂

Then Koosha moved on to the other project: elevator project 🙂

The button wouldn’t turn the LED on so he unscrewed the box and check the connection inside 😀

Capt. Faris still working hard on our TensorFlow project. Cloud computing didn’t work because internet was too slow. So we have to figure out something else.

Welcome to the class Sam 😉 Sam visited the class 2 weeks ago and today he joined the class 🙂

Sam is a focus and determined kid

Sam finished all the levels even the hardest one. He worked for 3 straight hours and finished LOTS of levels!!!

Hello Azriel, we’ve got lots work to do

Azriel was assigned to create a 7-segment display in Minecraft

Azriel quickly learned from tutorials

Azriel also continued his smart home project 🙂 He added a swimming pool that can be filled with water with a switch

and dry it with a switch 🙂 Nice 🙂

Nafis started to install MQTT Dash on his Android phone because he was going to learn how to control a LED with cloud 🙂

He had assembled the LED on the board but not yet finished the code 🙂 *this is some kind of cousins bonding time 😀

It is working nicely. There was some glitches and we sorted them out 🙂

Firaas also created his own game with animation 🙂 He’s going to add lots of things to it as soon as he got more ideas about the game, because he invented this one by himself 🙂

Capt. Awa worked hard on his radar project 🙂

The servo didn’t work so he had to debug the problem

the servo is supposed to rotate so the ultrasonic sensor mounted on top of it will read the obstacles in front of this vehicle 🙂

Silmi (purple hijab) started to create a flappy bird game 🙂

Silmi is very good at creating sprites 🙂 That’s why we keep asking her to help Kinan 😀

Tyo’s project keeps progressing

ProCodeCG Kids Regular Coding Class – 27 Jan 2018

Hello from our kids regular coding class 🙂

Earlier, only a few kids

later…

Today we’re thinking about designing an automatic folding table 🙂 We sketched some designs 😉

Capt. Awa was assigned to create a prototype 😀

But Awa wanted to do his trashbin project 🙂

He wanted the LED to be activated each time the ultrasonic sensor detect something

 

Yep it worked 🙂

Awa was also exploring the buzzer to do some morse 🙂

And after a while discussing about the folding table prototype, Awa chose to collaborate with Ain, doing the prototyping in Minecraft 😀 😀 😀

Ain was given several challenges to create in Minecraft. He was paired with Awa to connect Minecraft to the outside world 🙂

Ozan started to install MQTT Dash on Android and MQTT.fx on Mac because he’s going to learn some IoT implementation 🙂

We got Sulaiman exploring his Minecraft Modding skills

 

Sulaiman is very generous and kind kid 🙂 He voluntarily helped others (Kinan on the left, Silmi on the right)

Sulaiman is going to be a good Captain one day 🙂

and Kinan

They both went through intro to programming

And after they finished the first part

Vian still so into Minecraft command block, he created lots of stuff in there

Nanin continued to learn how to make a website 🙂

Using OpenCV to recognize objects in video

Last week we had already successfully recognize objects on images, along with the numbers of the objects. Today we use videos instead of images

Yes it recognized this one as a person 😀

Cinta started to explore Python libraries for games

to connect Minecraft to Arduino

we tried several ways but nothing worked

Neither this one 😦 We’re going to figure it out next time

Ain was given a task to collaborate with Awa. Ain should create the structures in Minecraft while Awa connect it to the hardware in the real world

Too bad it didn’t work yet so Ain continued his projects in Minecraft by creating more complex structures using Red Stone

Vian was still so interested in Minecraft Command Block

Nafis was really busy doing a project for school: running text on a LCD

Capt. Azriel made sure he type every single line, because you had to type to code 😀

Al’s TLauncher needed to be updated so it took a while before he can start. Al learned more about looping and how to add different blocks in different colors in Minecraft with JavaScript

Ozan was still debugging his work, using Nafis’ code just to find out if it work

Capt. Faris continued our TensorFlow research

While also helping other kids

and exchanging ideas with Jundy 🙂

ProCodeCG Regular Coding Class – ESPectro/Arduino Programming & Open Topics – 13 Jan 2018

Our regular coding class is always open for any kids interested to learn about technology and want to be a programmer/researcher 🙂

Capt. Awa (left) was doing a research on reading objects around for robots using ultrasonic (Capt. Fizhan on the right was just looking around LOL)

But first Awa wanted to show his latest project with ProCodeCG LED

Then moved on to the next project

the ultrasonic worked but the motor servo wouldn’t spin 😀

apparently two cables was switched and it worked after we reversed it 😀

Firaas (yellow shirt) was ready to learn GameMaker 🙂

Capt. Azriel (blue shirt) was assigned the task to teach Firaas 🙂

Capt. Cinta was still doing the research about creating a story generator with Python 😉

Cinta discussed the content of the database to create the story with another writer 😀

These three are brilliant girls who love writing 🙂

And Cinta’s code is a combination of Cinta’s writing and coding skill 🙂 Nice!

For next week Cinta wanted to create a game in Python 🙂 We’ll see what game it will be 🙂

Ain and Awa explored lots of structures with RedStone in Minecraft

Ain created lots of things in there

Even rockets 🙂

and infinite rails 🙂

Azriel was also exploring structure with RedStone in Minecraft

He created a dispenser than can give you meat and water

And we have Sulaiman joining the regular class yaay 🙂 Warming up with Minecraft Hour of Code

Sulaiman did it very well because he’d done this with Thunkable when he was taking Creating Apps topic on the last Coding Camp 🙂

We download the requirement and setup the computer while Sulaiman was working with Minecraft Hour of Code, and when he finished, we’re ready to go 🙂

Sulaiman learned to create simple structures using JavaScript code in Minecraft

 

 

Next time he will write his own code and create more complex structures like this one 🙂

ProCodeCG Kids Regular Coding Class – ESPectro Programming & Open Topics – 6 Jan 2018

Hello Saturday class 🙂

We had a newcomer: Firaas 🙂

There was a problem with Firaas’ laptop: it wouldn’t let browser to browse 😀 Capt. Azriel (green shirt) tried to help

Capt. Faris (dark grey ProCodeCG jacket) and Capt. Ain (grey shirt) helped too

It took 3 captains and we still couldn’t figure it out 😀

So we took different laptop and let Firaas started learning basic programming with Minecraft Hour of Code peacefully 🙂

Yep, it’s done! 🙂

Capt. Ain helped

Firaas learned for 3 straight hours 🙂

So he deserved some Minecraft time 5-10 mins before the class ended 🙂

Ain learned a new thing: BlocklyCraft 🙂 A drag-and-drop Minecraft Modding programming 🙂

Capt. Faris gave Ain a jump start 🙂

Ain will be given the task to explore BlocklyCraft 🙂

Nafis was assigned to debug his project all over again 😀

While Azriel had a bad headache LOL

We were trying to figure out this code to create a triangle in Minecraft using BlocklyCraft

We had tried every possible ways

And yet it still didn’t work

And kept giving us false result :((

So we called Faris for help

And he found out that something was wrong with the converter and it kept crashing the server

Apparently the converter from Blockly to JavaScript didn’t work smoothly.

So we assigned another task to Azriel: creating structures with RedStone

And our research, conducted by Capt. Faris had shown lots of progress

now the algorithm can count objects

So we add another data sets

we used bigger data set for higher precision

ProCodeCG Kids Regular Coding Class – Arduino/ESPectro Programming – 16 Dec 2017

Hello, welcome back to our regular ESPectro programming class 🙂

Ozan still had a project to do: ultrasonic counter with buzzer and LED 🙂

the ultrasonic and LCD work fine but the buzzer didn’t 😀

And we had Nadine start learning ESPectro programming today 🙂

And Ozan became Capt. on duty today to help Nadine learning 🙂

The first task is to make the LED onboard blink, and the LED on breadbroad blink 🙂

Done! 🙂

And then adding more LEDs 🙂

Worked nicely 🙂

Nadine wanted to learn how to use multimeter 🙂

She learned how to check resistor value and test LEDs 🙂

Look at that! This girl is so eager to learn this kind of thing 🙂 Cool 🙂

Capt. Ozan was busy creating the code to make the LED blinking alternately 🙂 Well done today, Capt! 🙂 :*

ProCodeCG Kids Regular Coding Class – Arduino/ESPectro Programming – 9 Dec 2017

This is what our Saturdays made of 🙂

Captains preparing the class 🙂 ProCodeCG doesn’t hire programmers. We raise them 🙂

These are (from left to right): Ain (going to start his first Captain duty on coding camp next week), Capt. Azriel, Tiga (Ain’s little brother) and Capt. Awa 🙂

Capt. Awa is in the middle of his project: building a radar system for navigation 🙂

He was going to disassemble an AroX robot and took some parts of it for his project

We’re going to use ultrasonic sensors and servo

And some codes, of course

Awa’s workplace 😀

After watching some tutorials, we decided to disassembly a microservo and modify it to be able to rotate 360 degrees continously

We had to cut something out of these gears

and put them altogether again

Well, this requires lots of patience and hard work 😉

Ozan was still investigating why the ultrasonic counter wouldn’t work with LCD

We’ve tried many configurations and codes

Even changed the LCD because this one wouldn’t turn on

There are days when things are so frustrating but we will keep working on it, yes Ozan? 😀

Even if we have to start all over again from the beginning 😀

ProCodeCG Kids Regular Coding Class – Arduino/ESPectro Programming – 2 Dec 2017

Hello hello!

Today we had three kids working on Arduino/ESPectro 🙂

Yes, Capt. Awa and his toolbox is back 😀

Awa was planning to work on his radar project 🙂

While Ozan needed to install libraries and drivers for ESPectro because he was using different laptop 🙂 But he was working on ultrasonic with buzzer and light before attaching it to LCD

Nafis was doing the same thing like Ozan was doing: making ultrasonic works with LED and buzzer and then attach the LCD

Nafis had some problem: his computer wouldn’t detect the port and we still hadn’t figured it out until the end of the class and we had to work on it next week 🙂

Awa got help from his mom and dad 🙂 A very nice family teamwork 🙂

And finally the servo worked 😀

As a dedicated captain, Awa spared sometime to fix broken cables 🙂
